about
this is a love letter
to the mail.
corresponzi documents the sending, the receiving, the additions, the detours. someone makes something. someone else gets it. they do something to it and send it on.
the artwork is in the mail. this is where we keep track.
what this hopes to be
a small experiment in human connection. and a willingness to put something strange into the world.
chains loop home. pyramids multiply. webs get complicated. things get lost. someone forgets for six months and then remembers. someone you’ve never met adds exactly what was missing.
we’re interested in all of that.
what it is not
a popularity contest. a content factory. another job.
you don’t have to be an artist. you don’t have to make something good. you do have to respect the people whose hands it passes through.
if you're new
make something. invite someone. put a stamp on it.
give them something to do, and ask them to find somewhere to send it next.
come back and tell us what happened.
addresses are not public property
a mailing address is a way to reach someone. it is not permission to expose them.
addresses must stay out of public profiles, project pages, maps, and documentation. private address access should be limited to the participant who needs it for the next mailing, with the recipient’s explicit permission.
don’t post someone else’s address. don’t collect addresses for another purpose, add them to a mailing list, or share them onward without permission.
before uploading a photograph, cover addresses, return labels, phone numbers, and anything else that could identify someone’s home. check the back of the envelope, too.
participants can withdraw permission for future address sharing and request deletion of stored address data. that cannot recall an envelope already mailed or information someone has already received.
people before projects
participating once does not mean agreeing to participate forever.
ask before documenting someone else’s private words or identifying them. if someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop. if they want out, let them out.
no threats, harassment, hate, scams, or actual pyramid schemes. the name is a joke. this rule isn’t.
things can come down
corresponzi may remove any content, project, or account at any time, with or without notice. no specific explanation will necessarily be offered.
you can ask for your own contributions to be removed, too. removal here cannot undo physical mail, someone else’s copy, or what has already happened out in the world.
make something worth sending.
leave people room to say no.
